This Friday! The surreal interactive VR work ” Bodyless ” created by VR Golden Award-winning director HsinChienHUANG , in collaboration with the renowned film composer LimGiong , is on show at the Hong Kong Summer International Film Festival! The VR work has already been selected for prestigious festivals such as Cannes and Venice and has received numerous international accolades, including the “Golden Mask Award” at the NewImages Festival, the “Best Virtual Reality Award” at the Los Angeles Film Awards, and the “Merit Award” at the Ars Electronica Festival. 《失身記》的靈感源自於心健老師小時候的家族記憶，故事背景設於臺灣戒嚴與白色恐怖的時代，並融合現代數位科技的興起，呈現威權年代的類似循環。主角是一位在白色恐怖時期，被關押在政府祕密實驗裡，孤獨死去的政治犯，其靈魂成為孤魂野鬼，墮入冥界。在臺灣民俗信仰中，農曆鬼月地獄之門大開，鬼魂回到人間探望家人。觀眾將透過老人的眼睛化身鬼魂，感受文化與自然編織成豐富精神世界，在人間和地府之間穿梭。
Inspired by director Hsin-Chien Huang’s childhood family memories, “Bodyless” unfolds in the backdrop of Taiwan’s martial law and the White Terror era, intertwining with the rise of modern digital technology to show the similar cycles of authoritarian times. The main character is an elderly political prisoner who died in a secret government experiment during the White Terror period and become a lonely wandering ghost in the netherworld. Drawing from Taiwanese folklore, where the gates of hell open during the Ghost Month of the lunar calendar, the spirits return to visit their living relatives. The audience embodies through the eyes of the character and becomes a lonely wandering ghost to immerse in a rich spiritual world, weaving through the realms of the living and the underworld.
