The Virtual and Physical Media Integration Association of Taiwan (VPAT) will again be taking the “Taipei Garden” exhibition to the Prix Ars Electronica Festival which will take place on September 7 in Linz, Austria.

2022-09-05
This will be the third consecutive year that VPAT has participated in the festival through the “Taipei Garden” exhibition, and VPAT chairman, Hsin-Chien Huang will continue to serve as the curator. The theme of this year’s festival is “Humanity Island — Data to be Continued”, so the exhibition uses the historical memory, ethnic culture and natural landscape of the island country Taiwan to show multi-faceted thinking and humanistic care to create dialogue with the world.
The four works selected for the exhibition include “Samsara”, which won Honorary Mention at the 2022 Prix Ars Electronica competition, LAFA Best VR award-winning “Childhood Revisited” and episode 1 of “Blue Tears”, as well as “Sandbox” by Peppercorns design director, Hu Chin-Hsiang.

It has been 43 years since the Prix Ars Electronica was first held in 1979 at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria. At a time when the United Nations is calling for a decade of restoration of the Earth, the era of technology and big data is arriving and quietly leading to political, social and cultural changes. Can data help people view the world more comprehensively? What will the next stage of our future life look like? This year’s Ars Electronica will be titled “Welcome to Planet B─A different life is possible! But how?”, inquiring about the possibilities of future life. The 5-day exhibition will start on September 7.

We would like to thank the Taiwan Creative Content Agency and the Prix Ars Electronica festival for helping to make this special event possible so that Taiwanese virtual reality works have the opportunity to shine on the world stage.
Exhibition time: September 7-11, 2022
