“The Starry Sand Beach” and “Childhood Revisited” are both nominated for VRE Virtual Realty Experience 2022! “The Starry Sand Beach” is a VR work created by new media artist Hsin-Chien Huang and French director Nina Barbier, and “Childhood Revisited” is a production by director Wen-Chieh Chang and Hakka Public Communication Foundation. Both pieces are now on display at Meet Digital Culture Center in Milan till October 30, 2022.

Based on an old photo of Wugoushui village in Pingtung, “Childhood Revisited,” which features details of the good old days and is represented via VR technology, invites viewers to savor their childhood memories and enjoy the atmosphere of Hakka villages once again.

Combining natural landscapes and mythological stories, “The Starry Sand Beach” starts from the perspective of the star sand with millions of years of memory and a moving legend. During the interactive experience, viewers are guided through the beautiful scenery and ecology of the ocean as they reflect on environmental damage and ecological sustainability issues.

VRE Virtual Realty Experience 2022 focuses on urgent issues about the society and politic of these days such as populism, disinformation that threaten democracy, the danger of atomic disaster, the search for a new perspective on oneself, the connection between man and artificial intelligence, and humanity and the Universe. There were 32 VR works from 12 countries worldwide submitting to the program, 21 of them are now in the Official Competition, and the Best VR Experience and Special Jury Prize VR will be announced afterwards. With the coming of the event, we are looking forward to the success of “The Starry Sand Beach” and “Childhood Revisited” in the final quarter of 2022!
