The Bolton International Film Festival is going to open on October 5, 2022. Works from Taiwan involving Samsara and The Starry Sand Beach created by the artist, Hsin-Chien Huang and Childhood Revisited presented by Hakka Public Communication Foundation will all be shown at Unit Base Gallery during the festival.

These three pieces of work have woven Taiwan’s cultural memory and natural environment together and reproduced experiences through virtual reality. While experiencing, viewers can break the limits of time and space, travel back and forth between the past and the future, and meanwhile feel and recognize the historical culture and scenery of Taiwan again.

First held in Bolton, UK in 2017, the Bolton International Film Festival has become one of the top ten film festivals in the UK and holds iconic status in the UK film and television industry. It has also been certified recently by the British Academy of Film Awards (BAFTA) and the Independent Film Awards (BIFA). Since 2021, the film festival has largely focused on new media art projects, and a VR project category was added to the programme in the same year, which is a strong indicator that new media art is attracting more attention than before.
